Seattle P-I Sports Star of the Year Banquet to the Power Ten

Here's a blast from the picture, just for fun. Here I am with my 8 and under Cascade Strider team... wow. 1988
was quite a year. Guess which one is me? Ha ha.
In other news, here is what I am up to today! After a few weeks training in Princeton, I am back in Seattle.
What a crazy few days this will be! From Princeton to Seattle to New York and back in three days. Tonight is the
Seattle Post-Intelligencer Sports Star of the Year Banquet. I am very honored to be among the ten men and women from
around Washington to recap a great year of sport. I am very much looking forward to seeing many friends and family tonight
at the event.
Here's a few links about the P-I Dinner:

But first, my brother is coming over from Eastern Washington to run with me at Cougar Mountain! I am still training
you know.
After the dinner tonight, it is back East for me! I'll take a red eye in order to be at a National Rowing Foundation
meeting by noon... my oh my. And of course, this day will be as long as possible as our women's eight was invited to
attend the Power Ten Dinner that evening. Power Ten is a group of oarsmen and oarswomen who are devoted to supporting
rowing. We are all very much looking forward to getting dressed up for a night in the city.

2007 Starts in Seattle Happy New Year!
To start 2007 off with a bang, our team traveled to Seattle for a great
training trip January 3rd to the 9th.
I was happy to be home for Christmas, spent time with my family over
New Years, and then had our very busy training trip. My parents were gracious to host two of my teammates and myself
(thanks Mom and Dad!). We rowed in the mornings out of the University of Washington Boathouse (thanks Huskies!).
We had a cross-country skiing lesson and a great adventure at Snoqualmie (thanks Summit!) We attended a Sonics basketball
game and a Husky men's basketball game and were recognized on the court (thanks Sonics and Huskies again!) We visited
Children's Hospital for some games with the kids (thanks Children's!). We had dinners with the Mickelson's and the Stevens'
(thank you!) We hardly slept a wink.
As you can tell, we are keeping busy and having lots of fun.
Now is the time for us to become really fit and we are well on our way to a really strong physical base. Our base will
only continue to get stronger as we head out Feb. 1 for the Olympic Training Center in San Diego.
To all, happy training and here we go after our goals for 2007!
